This wiki remains, like the original forum, mainly for historical value. There is a new wiki which, while having less content, is more secure and oriented towards modern Retro implementations.

About this Wiki

Due to several recent problems with spamming, you must obtain an editing key from Charles Childers to make changes to this wiki. You can request a key by email (crc -at- retroforth.org) or in the #retro irc channel on irc.freenode.net.

This wiki is a living section of the site. It serves as a place to gather documentation and information that may be useful to the RetroForth community. In addition, anyone can edit the pages, so it can be kept up to date far more easily than static documentation can.

The markups are a customized language written in RetroForth. This language recognizes single character tokens, and is focused on converting the source into html. Above this sits a PHP layer that takes care of housekeeping, and finally a template that determines how it all looks.

We have chosen to make use of other interesting tools as well. Links to images can make use of Lightbox JS. Another area of interest is exporting pages in formats other than html. We are considering PDF, PS, Palm DOC, and TXT formats at this time.

So please, feel free to look around, make suggestions, comments, or improvements. Play in the SandBox until you are comfortable with the markup language and then proceed to help us make this a truely useful resource.

From time to time we do take a snapshot of the wiki engine and offer it for free to those who are interested. We plan to do the next snapshot in July 2006. A lot of fixes have been added, and it's a significant step up from the last snapshot in terms of stability and even features.
